Juneau County, Wisconsin is located between Adams-Friendship and Tomah in the central part of the state along the Wisconsin River flowage system which creates both Lake Petenwell and Castle Rock Lake. Juneau County is known for farming, hilly terrain, public land, ATV trails, hunting, fishing, rock formations and public land. It also has Necedah Wildlife Refuge, Buckhorn State Park, Hardwood Air-to-Ground Gunnery and Bombing Range plus some communities including: Necedah, New Miner, New Lisbon, Mauston and Elroy. It's surrounded by 7 other Counties: Wood, Adams, Columbia, Sauk, Vernon, Monroe and Jackson. Almost ALL of the Juneau County Trout Streams are South of I-90/I94 except for Holtzliner Creek and Lyndon Creek with flowage under the interstate but West Petenwell Ditch is the only class trout stream in the northern part of the county. Most of Juneau county is now open to ATVing via ATV routes & trails check local rule and regulations and stay on the designated Route areas. This area is a well known vacation area for Central Wisconsin. It is located just north of Wisconsin Dells, one of the hottest tourist destinations in the Midwest and is known as "The Waterpark Capital of the World"!
